Life. Style. Repeat. This spec presentation for Boulder County's Audi Flatirons met with rave reviews from dealership staff but failed to be approved by corporate leadership. The stunning series was designed to rotate each month on back covers of various lifestyle publications throughout the Front Range. I think it had something to do with European plates. Which so rock!

Timeless Art and Design that Endures Fine artist Sylvia Lorraine becomes VIA whenever she wishes to express herself creatively. Inspired by her own life experiences, VIA captures moments in time with a variety of sensual, floral, high passion themes with her new series, "The Veil" — her striking pastels on paper are often compared to the early works of Joan Miro and Pablo Picasso.
VIA's Veil collection brings new life to the wondrous colors and quick strokes these two Spanish masters brought forth during the modern art period known for its brash innovations and brave departures from reality — when cubism, surrealism and abstract expressionism made their glorious international debuts. Also featured below are examples of VIA's "Treeple" — to the left of her favorite pastel offering, and "The Egg" — unmistakable on the right. Both truly inspirational creations sculpted from fallen trees brought back to life.
VIA’s new brand is a visual palindrome of sorts, where the word reads the same when flipped a full 180 degrees. This magic trick of typographical symmetry was made possible in part through the study of the ancient alphabets developed by the Phoenicians, Etruscans, the Greeks and the Romans over 2000 years ago.

Theatre of the Mind This awesome theatrical event already happened — performed at the elegant senior living residences in upland Boulder just down the hill from Chautauqua Park to a sold out room. Bravo! Communiqué created the name for the acting workshop series and then designed the new brand's BrainTheatre wordmark, letterhead suite, and promotional materials including the poster shown above. This movie poster and it's accompanying playbill won the hearts of The Academy's residents and executive staff — and left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance. Brain power. ZEST Gourmet Almond Flour Cakes bound for COSTCO After creating the brand name, trademark and product packaging for ZEST Gourmet Almond Flour Cakes, Communiqué helped their client attract Costco Wholesale Stores. Eight strong years of sales growth in Whole Foods Markets certainly impressed Costco's corporate brokers and buyers—as did this handsome combination point-of-sale display/shipper. This early-stage prototype I designed is the only one in existence today, but someday these babies should command top shelf real estate in Costco super stores across the western United States.

HENRY BROWN AND ROSIE ROSEBUD live on a cute little piece of heaven in Boulder County Colorado. Kitty cat heaven, that is. There's a little red farm house where they can cuddle up and sleep at night. There's tall trees to climb, a quarter acre of thick green grass and a bumpy, dusty, old dirt road out in front where nary a car or truck ever bothers to rumble by. So nice. It's quiet. It's peaceful. And it's just out of town in the middle of nowhere. It's a little piece of heaven — ain't no doubt about it. Kitty cat heaven, that is.

OCTAVIO CHIGO SHOOTS WILDLIFE AND LANDSCAPE FINE ART Octavio Chigo gets up early in the morning and waits. He waits. And waits. And waits. Initially, he's waiting for the light. Then he waits for his friends to show up. Most importantly, he waits for his friends to do something memorable inside the light he's been waiting for all morning. Click! CHIGO SHOOTS WILDLIFE AND LANDSCAPE MASTERPIECES Chigo travels to all of nature's great locales, setting up tactical hunter's blinds where waits for the light, and the nature to appear. Octavio's favorite environs include Grand Teton National Park, the Garden of the Gods, Rocky Mountain National Park — and, of course, majestic and atmospheric Yellowstone. The lone wolf above is catching morning rays inside the Garden of the Gods at sunrise. The magical reflection in the mountain lake needs no explanation as to where it lies. Below, a bull elk quenches his thirst while just down stream twin moose calves take a morning bath in the splendor of Rocky Mountain National Park. In between the natives stands the shooter — on a very different day, a much colder one — as he pans the canyon floor before him for many more photographic possibilities. Show Your True Colors and Support the Heroes of Ukraine | Like most civilized, reasonably intelligent, and empathetic people around the world, I am appalled by the situation that has befallen Ukraine. I decided to share my feelings of admiration and compassion for the people of Ukraine by creating a series of artworks as tribute to the millions of Ukrainians facing the demonic Russian army serving the megalomaniacal Vladimir Putin.
Make Art Not War | I am not the first person to express this mindful wish with art. In 1997, British contemporary artist Bob and Roberta Smith was the first to paint MAKE ART NOT WAR on two battered plywood panels he found in a London dumpster. More recently, the incomparable Shepard Fairey created a brilliant bold and graphic edition of serigraphs with the same title in 2019 — during the Iraq war.
The Ukrainian Flag is made up of two equal bands of color | Azure blue on top and golden yellow on the bottom, representing fields of grain under a bright blue sky. My original CMYKG editions include cyan, the very brightest of blues, and process yellow—life doesn’t get any yellower than process yellow. As soon as I made the color connection, I had to create a way to pay homage to the valiant struggles of the Ukrainian people. Maybe make a difference. Help spread the word. Advocate for their cause—the world's cause—with both financial and moral support.
The UKRKG Collection | I hope you will join me in my heartfelt admiration of the people of Ukraine's fortitude and spirit and will decide to show their nation’s colors upon the walls of your world. For prices and specs please visit: stonestudioboulder.com and just click on your favorite print. You'll be delivered to the UKRKG gallery located under ART in the site menu. I am donating 90% of the retail price for each limited edition print. The remaining 10% will cover the price of custom printing and the shipping of your signed and numbered print. Or just call me direct: 303.819.1022. Leave a message and I'll call you right back.

Theatre of the Mind Some years back, Communiqué created the name for this acting workshop series now famous for stimulating the mind through performing the act of acting. Yes, acting. Years of scientific research has proven that nothing stimulates more locations in the cerebral cortex, all at the same time, than acting. The researchers attribute this phenomenon to the fact that while acting, participants must think, feel, and do — all at the same time. Think. Feel. Do.
I just finished this new wordmark utilizing the handsome and apropos type face, American Typewriter. Created in the early nineteen-seventies by Joel Kaden and Tony Stan, the versatile font is based on the slab serif style of traditional typewriters. However, unlike most true typewriter faces, the individual characters enjoy variable spacing — where letter width varies among the 26 characters. So special.

Wisdom is the quality of being wise. Wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment — all at the same time. So why not start listening to these words of wisdom and stop holding those who stand the test of time with grace in question. The late great Charles Dickens only lived to be 58 years old. And before he moved on he wrote these famous words: "A loving heart is the truest wisdom." Joe Biden has one. So does E. Jean Carroll. As does Keith Richards. And Margret Atwood, too. How about you?
